Our Congolese business is in the east, along the Kibali–Moto and Twangiza–Namoya belts. That is where most of the country's artisanal and small-scale gold comes from and where our closest relationships with cooperatives and licensed comptoirs are.

Kinshasa handles the rest. Export licences, CEEC valuation and customs all run through the capital, and our team there keeps the paperwork moving so the field partners can concentrate on production.

We buy doré from licensed comptoirs and from cooperatives registered with the mining authority. Each lot is weighed and sampled with the seller present, priced against the London benchmark and paid on the terms agreed at onboarding.

The DRC is a conflict-affected and high-risk area under the OECD guidance. We follow the five steps and the ICGLR regional mechanism, and we walk away from any site where armed groups are present, children are working or the title is unclear.

We hold interests in small-scale permits and exploration ground with Congolese title holders. The approach is slow on purpose. Prove the resource, mechanise sensibly and grow at the pace the ground and the village can take.
